DEEP CLEANING OF THE TILED FLOOR
Dilute the acid detergent DETERG-A with a quantity of water proportioned in relation to the relevance of the impurities and formations on the surface, usually 1 kg of DETERG-A diluted in 4 l of water.
Pour the solution on the surface, distributing it with a floor scraper to remove liquid.
Wait 15 minutes for the acid to react, producing foam. Accurately wash with plenty of water and wait for complete drying before proceeding with the other phases.
PREPARATION OF JOINTS WITH POSSIBLE MOVEMENT
CARRY OUT ONLY IF NECESSARY
Prepare precise confinement with adhesive tape such as “paper tape” on the possible movement joints (usually three tiles and perimeter cornice in natural stone, between the floor and the skirting or between portions of tiled flooring).
SEALING OF JOINTS WITH POSSIBLE MOVEMENT
CARRY OUT ONLY IF NECESSARY
Seal possible movement joints, prepared based on the instructions described in point 2, with the specific polyurethane seal in extrudable cartridge PROTECH FLEX, on inserting the joint base of the cord in expanded polyethylene FILTENE FONDOGIUNTO 10 and subsequent application on the walls of the joint with specific PROTECH FLEX PRIMER.
PREPARATION OF SPECIAL WATERPROOF, TWO-COMPONENT GROUT
CARRY OUT ONLY IF NECESSARY
The cleaning and preparation operations described in the previous points can highlight any irregularities on the surface of the floor, such as cracks, missing or worn grout, etc.
Fill the irregularities with the specific waterproof grout STUCCO BALCONY.
To prepare, mix component A (powder) with the quantity of component B (liquid) necessary to obtain the desired consistency; fully mix until an even mix is obtained, without lumps.
APPLICATION OF SPECIAL WATERPROOF, TWO-COMPONENT GROUT
Lay STUCCO BALCONY using a metal spatula or a “gloved” hand, paying utmost attention in areas near the skirting, door and window thresholds, any porosity, cracks and discontinuity, so they can be completely grouted.
NB: The product is high grip to the support. At the end of the grouting operations, you are advised to immediately proceed with washing the “excess” using a wet sponge.
POURING THE SOLUTION
When the filling is correctly hardened as previously described, apply the transparent, non-filming and water repellent waterproofing solution, PROTECH BALCONY by pouring the product on the surface to treat.
NB: Do not apply the product if imminent rain is forecast which could prejudice the effectiveness and do not apply immediately after heavy rain. Always wait for the surface to dry.
LAYING THE SOLUTION
After the filling previously described (grout and sealant) is completely hardened, apply PROTECH BALCONY, pouring the product in small quantities directly on the surface to waterproof, proceeding to lay and distribute it over the entire surface to waterproof with a floor scraper to remove liquid.
MEASURES TO LAY THE SOLUTION
Reinforce laying of the solution in all points where you found it more difficult to lay the product, in particular where discontinuity is found: joints between tiles, angles, skirting, threshold, etc. Use a sponge or long bristled brush soaked in product.
REMOVAL OF ANY TRACES OF SOLUTION
After waiting no less than 60 minutes, which are indispensable for correct and complete absorption of the product on the treated floor, remove any traces of whitish dust, caused by stagnation of PROTECH BALCONY in small depressions on the floor or due to an excess quantity applied, using a cloth soaked in nitro diluent.
WATERPROOFING COMPLETED
Following correct cross-linkage and reaction, remove any traces of product applied (for a time of no less than 60’), it will be possible to carry out a “surface flooding” test to check the waterproofing is effective. The treated flooring will have the typical behaviour of repellent surfaces, characterised by a singular “pearly” effect of water drops.
* The product should only be applied on dry and clean surfaces. For floors covered in tiles or highly absorbent and/or delicate (such as terracotta) coverings, you are advised to do a preliminary test on a small section, to check the floor does not change colour.
