Traditionally, restoring a waterproof seal on terraces and balconies always leads to costly and time-consuming methods:

Hypothesis A. Demolition of the flooring and the existing screed; removal of the existing waterproof sheath; laying on-site of a new waterproof sheath; resurfacing of the sloped screen; supply and installation and grouting of a new floor.

Hypothesis B. Application of waterproof, coating layers, created using cement-plastic mixes, integrated with alkali-resistant fibreglass mesh and specific elastic strips for subsequent installation of a new floor.

Hypothesis C. Application of elastic polymer sheaths on adequately washed and prepared surfaces. This leads to radical modification of the original appearance of the floor.

PROTECH BALCONY is a concentrated solution of silicone resins and catalysed organic polymers, low viscosity, conveyed in non-polar solvents determining deep penetration. The process described forms an internal, waterproof barrier, diffused, non-filming, high water repellent strength, to fill and seal porosity and micro-cracks up to 1 mm, without inhibiting breathability. PROTECH BALCONY revolutionises the concept of waterproofing of terraces and balconies. DEEP CLEANING OF THE SUPPORT

Dilute the acid detergent DETERG–A with a quantity of water proportioned in relation to the relevance of the impurities and formations on the surface. Pour the solution on the surface, distributing it as good as possible with a floor scraper to remove liquid. Wait 15 minutes for the acid to react, producing foam. Wash with plenty of water.

JOINT GROUTING

Cracks and discontinuity highlighted by cleaning should be carefully filled with special, waterproof grout STUCCO BALCONY, also along skirting and threshold joints. Any movement joints should be treated with PROTECH FLEX, the specific polyurethane sealant in extruding cartridge with high elasticity.

LAYING THE WATERPROOF SOLUTION

Pour PROTECH BALCONY on the areas to waterproof, spreading it with a liquid scraper, especially working into the joints between the tiles and the skirting. Leave the product to react for at least one hour before the surface flooding test. The operations described should be carried out when the fillings are hardened, as per point 2.

REMOVING EXCESS MATERIAL

When the work is complete, remove any residue and stagnation of PROTECT BALCONY with a cloth soaked in nitro diluent that may still be on the surface of the floor.
